Most of this excellent book is about the significant personages involved, the institutions (and the changes in institutional practices) involved (including social mores), and the broader historical trends, as they all culminate into the 'battle' itself. The book rounds off with the consequences of it, and the lives of some of the main players involved. Well narrated too.

Plan on visiting the Little Big Horn National park the end of July and thought this would be good for the drive there.
