Um, how is it a criticism (mpot) that "all the stories are written by one person"? I think that's pretty common in short story collections.
Barron is part of a new wave of horror writers who are more in line with Lovecraft and Poet and King and Koonitz. Frequently creepy and unsettling, these will appeal to those who like their horror weird and cosmic. Also check out his collection "The Beautiful Thing That Awaits Us All."

Barron is one of the best of the new wave of horror writers and "Occultation" is as amazing as his earlier "The Imago Sequence". Barron's work contains a feel that could be described as "Lovecraftian" but his work is hardly derivative. Barron's stories are suffused with a sense of cosmic dread that is truly disturbing. The fact that he sets his stories in Washington state only adds to the chill. If you're a fan of Thomas Ligotti or Ramsey Campbell, give Barron a try!

Slow-moving, all the stories are written by one person and you can tell it.
