Prof. Blackhawk gives us a surprising perspective on American History. He doesn't present Native Americans as feeble victims or objects of white guilt. Instead he gives an honest history that goes deeper into the legal and political aspects of US and Native relations, showing the many factors that contributed to the mishandling of Native American relations by the US. And he ends on a hopeful note, alluding to the progress that has been made in repairing the bonds between the US and Native Americans.

Highly recommended.
