The journey that Tess takes as her family takes on a foster child is great. She learns that families come is all sizes and definitions and that change may not be such a bad thing. With its elements of the sea and family, this is a great read for summer vacation!

It never really got to the point. But the story is pretty good.

Good book. At parts it was a little slow and boring, but soon enough it became good again. I liked the superstitions at the beginning of the chapters and i loooooooooooooved the setting.

This book turned out to be completely different that I thought it would be, but that was fine, because I liked it anyway. I thought it would be about keeping the school open, when in fact it was about making Aaron a part of their family.

I really enjoyed this one. Lord has such a descriptive style and a talent at fleshing out her characters. This is one of those books I didn't think I would like and ended up thoroughly enjoying.

Any book about island life or where the locale is near the ocean immediately draws me in. Great storyline and I love Tess, even if she is superstitious.I liked the chapters headings, which in fact are superstitions that Tess truly believes in. "Never whistle on a boat." "Touch blue and your wish will come true." "Cross your fingers for good luck."....
