Fourteen-year olds, Laura and Leon are both misfits and are isolated at school. Laura lives in an old mansion which the other students claim is haunted. She is “different” and loves to write. Leon also is “different” and lives with his grandmother, is poorly dressed and the rumour at school is that his father is a criminal. When Laura becomes interested in finding the history of her house, help comes from unexpected sources and she realizes that Leon can be an ally in her search. This is the story of their developing friendship and the happiness that results. Reviewed by BPL volunteer EE.
