Since he got home from Iraq, Spero Lucas has carved out a good life for himself, enjoying his youth and his independence, and making a name as the kind of person who gets jobs done quietly and effectively, usually just on the right side of the law. A quick case for a criminal defense attorney leads him into the world of a high-profile marijuana dealer, currently in prison but with a long reach, who wants to find out who's been stealing from his dealers. Soon Lucas uncovers a tangle of connections that lead dangerously close to some people in high places - and to Lucas's own family.

Mr. Pelecanos is spot on veterans. Ex-cellent on many levels. Let go and enjoy yourself.

My first (and probably last)Pelecanos book. The writing is barely a C+ and I gave up fairly early on.

Got through half, and got bored. Heard so many great things about Pelecanos so I'm starting on his first "A Firing Offense" in hopes that "Cut" was just a slip in his otherwise stellar record.

Pelecanos does it again. One of the true masters of contemporary crime fiction. Have read all his books and have never come across one that was a disappointment.

Very disappointing book. I've read and enjoyed Pelecanos' earlier works, but this falls short.

I was surprised at the lazy writing. Characterization by clothing fails, if the reader doesn't know the labels' significance. Same goes for citing musicians and songs. It will be out of date soon.
