When her four year old daughter informs her a sick man is in their yard, Honor Gillette rushes out to help him. But that "sick" man turns out to be Lee Coburn, the man accused of murdering seven people the night before. Dangerous, desperate, and armed, he promises Honor that she and her daughter won't be hurt as long as she does everything he asks. She has no choice but to accept him at his word.

But Honor soon discovers that even those close to her can't be trusted. Coburn claims that her beloved late husband possessed something extremely valuable that places Honor and her daughter in grave danger. Coburn is there to retrieve it -- at any cost. From FBI offices in Washington, D.C., to a rundown shrimp boat in coastal Louisiana, Coburn and Honor run for their lives from the very people sworn to protect them, and unravel a web of corruption and depravity that threatens not only them, but the fabric of our society

Really enjoyed this book - fast-moving, lots of twists and turns, plenty of blood spilt but the good guys win the end :)

Could have done without the two sex scenes, but overall an enjoyable read.

Well written exciting fast paced read. Main characters budding romance and suspenseful plot keeps you racing to read next chapter.

A good plot with limited characters to point the finger at the bad guy, but ruined by the numerous paragraphs describing copiously the motivations of the character's actions, feelings, and thoughts.

Brown has gone back to her tried and true formula of good characters, fast-paced action, and suspense. Excellent!

This book has a ridiculous plot. On practically page one it's not believable. Honor, the widowed mother of a 4-year-old, living in rural Louisiana sees a man lying on her front lawn. He's injured so she goes up to him and touches his shoulder, "sir?" she says. HA! Sorry, in this day and age, in that situation, you lock your doors and call 911. Why did I keep on with this book? Probably because I was listening and it just kept going so I kept listening. Also, it was short. About the best that can be said for it.

A really great book! I loved the main characters, reminded me a lot of "Play Dirty" which Sandra Brown also wrote. This book will not disapoint...so hard to put it down!

Liked this book more because the author Brown revisits the romantic suspense style that she started writing her mysteries. Missed that style from her as well as Tami Hoag!

Other: This paperback was chewed by our cat. We notified the library and made a $10. donation to cover this. The book should not be shown as checked out. I believe it has been removed from circulation. Allen Nybida
