I read the sequel to Pilgrims Don't Wear Pink initially (Confederates Don't Wear Couture). And this is a rare case where the sequel was actually better than the first book.

Don't get me wrong, though- this one had humor, history-buff inside jokes, and a sweet romance (which, yes, was predictable...but still sweet). However, where the second one tackled issues like taking people for granted, how to square yourself with re-enacting Civil War when your 'team' is the ones who wanted slavery, and the trials and tribulations historical preservation societies face in the days of modern housing developments. And that just gave it a nice relevance to balance the fluff.

It's definitely a fun read- I love Libby's sense of humor (though she's harsh to geeks, in this one) and we've all run into people like Ashling. And Cam (ask me about my experience with knights!). I'm glad Dev gets more development in the second book as well, as in this one he's a plot device, more or less. It's a quick read, and I hope Strohm gives us more Libby books (how about Libby comes to Fort Nisqually for some Hudson's Bay Company shenanigans?!).

I recommend this to fans of YA and romance, living history folks (especially those who were in it as teenagers and young adults), fans of clean romance and those who want a quick, light, humorous read.

Libby was darling, I love how intelligent she was with knowledge of history and literature while at the same time being shocked and opposed to the "no cell phone" and "no make-up" rule. I didn't like the way the romance came together at the end. It seems no one can just be friends in books.
