You'd be angry, too . . . if you grew up poorer than poor in Harlem in the 1960s and '70s, a place of unrelenting violence, racism, crime, rape, scamming, drinking, and drugging . . . with a dad permanently checked out in Bellevue and a mom at the end of her rope raising you, your twin sister, and your two brothers, moving every time the money runs out-- and doing what it takes to survive.

I'm surprised to see this book was rated only one star. I wonder why. I thought it was pretty good. Glad to see some of the story was embellished, because what she said she, her sibs and their friends did at very young ages was a bit hard to believe. But, I guess things can happen, all in how one is raised, I guess. I love how she got back at her rotten, abusive husband. That was classic!
