I have not read the book 'Rings of Saturn' of which this film constitutes a book review and analysis. My interest was in the walking tour of Suffolk England. This documentary was made for Sebald fans, who I did not know of before my encounter with the film. Yet, I found the film intriguing and inspirational as a philosophic travelogue - not that I understood any of the ramblings of the author reviewed. However, both the book and the film seem to enjoy being still in a place and absorbing whatever is unique about that place and tying the personality of that place with the individuality of other places and times in one's life. In that sense, the film is about feeling fully aware of oneself in space and time.
