How do you feel about listening to a guy talk for 90 minutes? I'd never heard the term "monologuist" until encountering Spalding Gray. Basically his thing is to talk in a theater for a long time. I guess one man show has a negative connotation. This is a film of him talking about his experiences working on "The Killing Fields," although there are quite a few tangents. Gray's style is neurotic, droll, and self-aware and it both carries you along with its momentum and, eventually, exhausts you. Jonthan Demme directs and Laurie Anderson does the music. Other filmed performances of Grey include "Monster in a Box" and "Gray's Anatomy." He most likely committed suicide in 2004.

Spalding Gray's spellbinding journey into genocide, jingoism, the sybaritic pleasures and natural beauty of Thailand and the therapeutic value of making big-budget war films. What Gray sought in Thailand is what all viewers will discover as they watch this frenetic, impassioned and ultimately wise monologue: that we can all stumble upon "perfect moments."

Spalding's energy and humor and held my attention for the entire movie. A great storyteller!
