Tai Chi Zero was a much more entertaining watch, but this one is okay.

If you have seen any of Stephen Fung's movies as a director then you know what you are getting into. This movie is steam punk and kung fu rolled into a shiny ball and bounced around in a pinball machine. Basically a hot mess that I couldn't seem to stop watching.

You could watch 'Tai Chi Zero' first as this movie starts right at the end of the other movie. Of the two, the first seems more fun.

I thought this was an excellent film and even better than the first movie, Tai Chi Zero. This is a great adventure action film with an anti-colonial, anti-industrialization motif and an appreciation of getting back to nature and simple living. It seems appropriate as a family movie without explicit violence or sexual content but with lots of kung fu action. There is both English audio and Chinese audio if English subtitles alone present a difficulty. You will especially appreciate this movie if you practice Tai Chi. The movements and names of postures are based on Chen style which influenced the more popular Yang style. Although it re-creates some historical facts concerning Yang style Tai Chi founder Yang Lu Chan, the creative license taken creates a wonderfully entertaining movie, making it more enjoyable for a younger audience.

Poor ideas. This is a poor mixture of mechanical machines and kungfu.
