Carlo Weisz, journalist in Paris in 1938, is charged with getting into print the infiltration of Nazis into Italy’s rank and file governments. The atmosphere is classic resistance inter war with unknowns appearing and disappearing, brief disjointed incidents occurring on top of cover, urgency of mistress. Reminds me of Modiano without the literary tour de force, but lots of entertaining history.
have been a Furst fan forever, but some how neglected to comment...Great read, but you should have some knowledge of Europe pre-WWII to really e njoy it.
"I haven't found any other WWII noir novels, Furst seems to have invented a genre all his own."
