A hilarious fictionalized version of the rumor that President William Taft got stuck in the bath. President Taft realizes he's stuck in the bath and all of the members of his cabinet are called into help get him out of the bath. Their various tactics are funny and fit with their cabinet position. A fun book to introduce kids to different members of the cabinet and also just a funny book all around for elementary-age kids.

The illustrations alone are worth reading this book; as an adult, I always appreciate a children's book that still holds my interest on the 35th read. Content-wise it's a little older than other picture books; I'd probably recommend for the 7+ crowd.

This book is so strange! Coupled by the fact that it's based off a true story, making it even more weird. I appreciate it's historical value, but it was a little long in parts.

Whenever I see this on the shelf, I have to read it. It makes me laugh every single time. Plus the illustrations are so vibrant and fun!

Reviews call this book "hilarious" but to me it seems to highlight the fact that prejudice against fat people still seems to be ok; that society thinks it's still ok to point one's finger at a fat person and laugh. If it were an elderly person stuck in the bath, would that be funny? Why is it funny because fat President Taft is stuck? Is this the best Candlewick Press could do? I am so let down, Candlewick. I expected better from you.

Stick with "King Bidgood's In the Bathtub" by Audrey and Don Woods. You'll be better for it.

Rumor has it that President Taft became stuck in his tub on the first day of office and required several aides to get him out. As a possible urban legend, this picture book imagines the scenario and turns it into a comical situation.
