Truly creepy. A collection of five spine-tingling short stories.

This short compendium is full of some of the creepiest and haunting stories I've read in a long time. A true must for any horror fan.

Yes, this is a comic book, but it is the creepiest book I have ever read. If you love the way Tana French upends your perceptions and makes you think "Maybe...maybe it really is dark magic?" you'll love Emily Carroll. If you found the possibility that there might be a dangerous animal i... Read More »

A strikingly illustrated graphic novel featuring short horror stories told in bold blacks, reds, blues and whites. The stories are ones that will stay with you. Each story felt familiar to me, probably inspired by classic fairy tales but each has its own horrific twist. One of my favorites has to... Read More »

I have to admit up front that: A) while I like stories that are dark and explore, to an extent, the ways we humans cause and confront suffering, I'm not a big fan of pure horror, particularly supernatural; and, B) while I find some short stories amazing, often I feel they're one-trick ponies and ... The description and images were striking, stunning. To those who sleep easily and are only entertained by horror, this book is perfect for you. To those who fear, who lay awake hearing every wail and song, seeing every cold hand, every drop of blood: caution.
This book is great, being in that it serves it’s purpose: it terrifies you.

This is a collection of short horror stories. It's one of my favorites that I have checked out several times and I probably just need to buy already.

The art is fantastic and I think that's a majority of the reason why the stories work so well. Honestly, if I could find some prints of some of the art, I would purchase them immediately!

My favorite story in the collection is "The Nesting Place" about a girl who goes to stay with her brother and his wife. She begins to notice that something is a little "off" about his wife and the climax of the story has some of the most unnerving artwork I've ever seen.

It's a pretty quick read overall, but the stories and artwork have a tendency to stay with you for awhile. I highly recommend this book!

Genuinely unsettling. The stories take you just up to the edge of something really awful and leave you there, because your own imagination will always supply something worse than whatever could be put on the page.

A graphica gothic masterpiece that has to be seen to be believed. Highly recommended.

I found these stories creepy and unnerving. Even though I read them in the full sun out on my balcony, I still felt on edge as if something was going to jump out and get me. I loved every page turning bit of it.

This graphic novel of horror stories is deliciously creepy and sinister. The art is gorgeous and the stories themselves are well written. I definitely got a traditional Gothic vibe from several of these stories.

A fantastic graphic novel of short horror stories. This book made Emily Carroll one of my favorite authors/illustrators.

This creepy selection of disturbing old-style faerie tales will cast a bitter chill deep in your bones. But don't read it late at night because you'll start to imagine hideously deformed monsters slithering in the shadows at the end of your bed, just beyond reach of your bedside light.

"Oh, but you must travel through those woods again and again," said a shadow at the window, "and you must be lucky to avoid the wolf every time. But the wolf . . . the wolf only needs enough luck to find you once."
