Everything you've heard about Vivian Maier is probably true. The mysterious eccentric was a classic enigma in real life. But this enigma was also one of the very greatest street photographers of the 20th Century. It only took way too long to for the world to discover her, due in no small part to Maier's reluctance to seek recognition. But consider these photographs: everyone of them a masterpiece of insight, composition and truth. You can't go wrong with any collection of Vivian Maier photographs.

As a HUGE Vivian Maier fan, I highly recommend this latest book with Maier's beautiful prints: they are all at once mysterious, thoughtful, intriguing, funny and heartbreaking. Her eye for design and composition speak for themselves in each shot. These stunning street photographs (with some being reproduced in earlier books; she shot over 100,000 photographs in her lifetime!) are compiled lovingly here by one of her strongest advocates/representatives, John Maloof. If you're not yet aware of who Maier is, I strongly recommend not only this exquisite body of work, but also the amazing multi-award winning 2014 documentary, "Finding Vivian Maier" to learn more. You can also check out the other four photography books of her remarkable work. Her intriguing personal story and her art are definitely worth learning about and enjoying.
