A great read! I would recommend it to anyone looking to dive into the events following ROTJ.

I'd heard this was one of the poorer books of the new canon, but gave it a try anyway. I'm glad I did, because while it has its flaws, I appreciated how it fleshed out some other aspects of the SW universe beyond just the original trilogy and its own story. It features some familiar side characters from the original trilogy, but little of the main characters, and introduces some new characters that were interesting. One appears in The Force Awakens, though it is a minor role.
The author made a few too many allusions to our own universe, and a prequel-era battle droid had too much of a role for my taste. Aside from that I enjoyed it, and look forward to reading the rest of the Aftermath trilogy.

I'm actually very disappointed at the reviews I'm reading on this book. While many of our old heroes don't feature in this book, there is a beautifully rich background to ranking members of the now fallen Empire and the New Republic. I enjoyed this book very much and I can't wait to read the next in the series. I'm excited to maybe get some background to the New Order or the Knights of Ren. Anyways, loved the book and I think if you give it a shot you'd enjoy it as well.

Read 2 chapters and couldn't take the torture and more, the story is lifeless and so were the characters.
WORST-BOOK-EVER
Hopefully the "author" can get his job back at McDonalds cleaning toilets

This is the most poorly-written Star Wars book I have ever read, and the most poorly-written book of any type I have read in quite some time. It is written in what appears to be an informal, presentation-like style.

I'm sure there must be a story in here somewhere, but I couldn't get past the terrible style in order to actually find it - it's difficult to concentrate on the storyline between paragraphs, much less between the incomprehensible scene changes.

About as interesting as Episodes I & II. (That's an insult.) The prose is wooden; I got through about 8 chapters before giving up. Chapter 1: We are introduced to a character with a silly name; something happens. Chapter 2: We are introduced to a different character with a silly name, who has no connection to the events in Chapter 1. Repeat. Oh yeah, Wedge is involved, but he never had much of a personality. What a bore.

Boring story with boring characters. Disappointed in this book as it leads up the new canon for Star Wars

Wermia says: "Was that really Vader's weapon?"
The Kubaz shrugs. "Who knows. And really, who cares?"
