The twist to the world we know as Earth and the wondrous adventure in it has me engaged. Love the book.

In an alternate world filled with fantasy creatures and a history similar to our own, Gracie and her family set out in a Winnebago to find the end of the Earth. Gracie is a fun, high spirited character, and leads readers through a fascinating world and adventure full of many touching moments.

Nothing happens in this book until about page 223. In a world stocked with sasquatches and dragons, it's sad that the author doesn't make better use of these magical elements to flesh out what turns into a dreary road trip to escape death. Little explanation is given for who dies, furthermore. Not worth the paper it was printed on.

I loved this middle grade fantasy, set in a sort of alternate world in which Wal-Mart exists, but so do sasquatches and mermaids. It's the story of a family traveling to the ends of the earth (literally) in search of the Extraordinary World (i.e., our world) so they can escape the (again, literal) dark cloud that is following them. Anderson perfectly balances fantasy with family dynamics, and the end result is moving and memorable. At times funny, at others deeply sad, this is a lovely book from start to finish.
