Still worth the watch, but not the documentary that I was hoping for. It has far too much screen time wasted on too many opinions from celebrities that were influenced by him, but not taught, nor were martial artists, nor even had met him.
If you want an introduction documentary about Bruce Lee, with words by him, then try seeing the two 1994 A&E productions; Bruce Lee: The Immortal Dragon, narrated by Miguel Ferrer and A&E's Bruce Lee Biography, narrated by Peter Graves, found on YouTube.
These have interviews of students, and fellow actors and producers on tv shows and movies that he was involved in.
The other documentary that the library has that is interesting to look at but not as good, is the 1993 production, Martial Arts Master, The Life of Bruce Lee.

Bruce Lee quote - "Absorb what is useful - Discard what is not - Add what is uniquely your own."

I must admit that I am, indeed, a bit of a Bruce Lee fan, myself. I mean, this guy, with his mischievous grin, was an extraordinary martial artist whose distinctive fighting style excelled, without question, well beyond the norm.

Born in both the year (1940), and the hour, of the Dragon, Bruce Lee's venture into American cinema is what firmly cemented his reputation as being one of the 20th Century's most dynamic and enduring pop-culture icons of them all.

In the world of entertainment, Bruce Lee was (and, I guess, always will be) the ultimate butt-kicker, bar none.

Through stills, archive footage, and film clips (as well as interviews from family members, celebrities and martial arts experts) this "I Am Bruce Lee" documentary-DVD tells the story of this ambitiously-driven man who, at the very height of his career, died tragically (in 1973) at the age of 32.

I agree with the other reviewers - there was too much interview material with famous people who were inspired by Bruce Lee but had never known him in real life. I would have liked more information from those who knew him best. Also there was too much MMA footage.

Way too much celebrity blabbing and not enough focus on the amazing Bruce Lee.

I thoroughly enjoyed this documentary. It was interesting to listen to people talk about how he influenced their lives. The action clips were good.
The extras were interesting too.
I now know why punching and kicking was such a big part of his type of martial arts. He was like a martial arts boxer.

Too much of other people talking about bruce, who didn't even have any contact with him. I mean they had like Cobie Bryant, Taboo from The Black Eyed Peas, Dana White the UFC promoter, Ed O'Neil from Married with Children, etc. It's worthwhile to have those that had first-hand contact with Bruce, like Gene LeBell, Dan Inosanto, or Bob Wall, but much of the run time was wasted on the other guys which was just ridiculous.

I wish I recalled the title, but there is another much better documentary on Bruce out there, which contains much more footage of him giving interviews, and even exhibition footage, and was totally about BRUCE. "I Am Bruce Lee" didn't totally suck, but it definitely isn't the most comprehensive documentary out there.

I was expecting a more comprehensive biography but a lot of time was spent on other people's opinions of bruce lee. this could have been so much better.
