Jane Whitefield, the fearless "guide" who helps people in trouble disappear, has just begun her quiet new life as Mrs. Carey McKinnon when she is called upon again to face her toughest opponents yet. Jane must try to save a young girl fleeing a deadly mafioso. The deceptively simple task of hiding the girl propels Jane into the center of horrific events and pairs her with Bernie the Elephant, the Mafia's moneyman. Bernie has a photographic memory, and in order to undo an evil that has been growing for half a century, he and Jane engineer the biggest theft of all time-stealing billions from hidden Mafia accounts-only to face the unprecedented problem of what to do with that much money.

I've listened to two of Thomas Perry's audio books and they do not disappoint: intelligent, plausible characters who live (or die) by their wits and find themselves in situations with increasingly dangerous characters--sustained tension ensues.

Have to say this is another edge of your seat, nail biting adventure!! Full of suspense--I couldn't wait to hear what happened next!! I must say the ending was a bit anti-climatic for me. There was closure to part of the story, but was confused with the ending as to how all the mafia / mob families dealt with the problems presented in the novel. The last disk was pretty much a let down. Joyce Bean did a great job narrating this story. 8 out of 10 for me.

A really enjoy Perry's books. This one is no exception. 7 of 10 for me.
