Another Dylan album that will have to wait a few generations before it's understood and appreciated. Dylan has always been ahead of his time and if you don't "get" this album, it just means you got a lot of catching up to do.

Bob singing other people's songs? Why not. Now he can afford to this :-)

First let me say that I love Dylan's original works. But I find this album funny and terrible all at the same time. He had a Christmas album a few years back that was equally hard to stomach. Willie Nelson covers American standards very well. Bob Dylan, not so much.

I disagree. One has to listen. These songs are crafted, aged nuggets of joy. One of my favorite songs, which our piano player elongates, is "Polka Dots and Moonbeams" not a Bob Dylan song? Is "Hard Times" a Bob Dylan song? No, yet they are from a cascade of songs that have filtered through back to us. Thankfully, one has the opportunity to listen to these songs renewed and revived. Bob has chosen to do this for his bandmates , check Charlie Sexton out for pure Southern angst rock. An open careful listen to this album leads one back to Frank Sinatra, Julie London, and, still going, strong Tony Bennett

There is much to admire about Bob Dylan but this album is not. ....in fact, it is not much at all.
