1980's Dublin boy makes a music video to impress a girl.
The movie musical is alive and well in Sing Street, which might just be the single most lovable movie of the last 5 years. The set-up is pretty well trod (a nerd starts a band to impress a girl) but the execution makes it warm and sweet and features some legitimately excellent original songs.

It's difficult for me to remember a more joyful, smart, and pleasant coming-of-age movie made in recent years.
