The interest level is 13 and up -- however within the encompassing series there are sex scenes, rape and torture, so I would say 16+ would be safer.

This is an amazing book that I would definitely recommend for teen and adult fantasy fans. It is a continuation of the Vows and Honor series, with Kethry being the grandmother of Kerowyn, our new heroine. As a character Kerowyn has both her strengths and her weaknesses. Her strong sense of morals is admirable, as well as her resolve to never give up on her mercenary family. The romance that appears in the middle of the book is both understandable in that it was both meant to be and impossible in order for Kerowyn to stick to her values. Although I found some of the secondary characters a bit stereotypical, some had interesting elements in their personalities.
