A young black man meets his white girlfriend's parents at their estate, only to find out that the situation is much more sinister than it appears.

It's not often that a movie so perfectly taps into the spirit of the times, but in a year where Trump's presidency has sparked tense discussions about police brutality, race, and false liberalism, this was the breakout movie that did the job—in the horror genre, no less. Taken as a horror movie, Get Out did its job in creeping me out. As social commentary, the satire is sharp and unsettling. Without spoiling anything, the slow build up of racial tension pays off in an over-the-top finale.

Get Out is about a biracial couple Chris and Rose, who have been dating for a while. The movie starts with them thinking it is finally time for Chris to meet Rose’s parents. When they arrive at her parents’ house, Rose’s parents act very unusual around Chris. Chris finds out some disturbing things about Rose’s family. He finds that the whole family isn't who they said they were and aren't the normal parents you would expect. The movie becomes a series of great scenes with Chris trying to escape from the situation to save his life.

I really enjoyed this film. If you are into a thrilling movie that keeps you on the edge of your seat this is the movie for you. I loved how the movie would make you consider so many different outcomes. It was actually one of my all-time favorite movies. I loved how the suspense of the movie grew on you as the time went by. There was plenty of action, romance and thrilling parts of the movie.

I also found the movie was very unique. I can't think of it being relatable to any other movies I have watched in the past. The storyline and the setting of the movie was just very strange but entertaining. I think its original theme was part of the reason I liked it so much. I couldn't predict anything that was going to happen reliably. I really enjoyed how Jordan Peele directed this movie and kept it full of surprises.

What a gripping movie. I was on the edge of my seat thru the first half. Constantly had me wondering what was going to happen next. Midway thru, I wondered how this was going to end up. Ending is a little messy and sloppy but I can’t say it was disappointing at all. Other recent reviews are spot on. Very well made movie.

Subliminal messages or racial undertones is what is displayed in this movie, the angelic approach of a racist, some would call it. "I would have voted for Obama a second time" Ha!!..just because you are a liberal doesn't mean you can't be a racist.

The movie has deeper meaning on how the black man is perceived in America. But as Drake would say, "Hate is just jealousy and love at the same time.'' This is clearly the position of the family, the father and the son. The daughter was the bait.

OH my goodness! We were riveted. The plot was tight, the acting exquisite. Usually I shun horror movies, but I heard such good things I relented. Am I allowed to say "I'm glad I did"? I appreciate how concisely the story was told. There was hardly a wasted word or action; even the gruesome bits were reduced to only the amount needed to carry the plot. Lots to discuss, but I see that others already have ;-) . Not for kiddies.

In my opinion this movie deserves all the hype that it gets . Explaining the plot sounds very silly , almost like comedy. But the acting , the little subtle details make it very suspenseful and nothing is wasted. This is a movie that you could rewatch and find something new to discuss. I found it very creepy and it definitely is on my favourite list .

Sure kept me on the edge of the seat . Was glad when it ended yet not glad to see it end . And one of those where also glad I wasn't watching it alone . Creepy , scary and I'll remember this movie if someone mentions the title ! For being thrilling definitely a 4 out of 5 ,. maybe even four and half stars out of 5 . Have also heard there is a version of this movie where it has an alternate ending , one you thought it was going to be and yet don't see coming .

Solid horror comedy from first time director Jordan Peele. Unpredictable and oozing subtext.

Not wanting to sound like a racist, this was honestly not as good as everyone seems to make it out to be. I understand the message it had and the cast did a great job with what they had but the "Oscar-winning" script had all the un-subtly, self seriousness and cartoonishness of a shyamalan flick. I would instead reccomend Candyman and other works by Clive barker; someone who actually produces intelligent subtle horror and probably never got the same financial backing as this privlaged former comedian.

I didn't know who Jordan Peele is until I saw an episode of Key & Peele the other night. He's very talented, and a very astute borrower. The surgeon with his OR in the basement of his house is from Eyes Without A Face, the idea of luring people to the house is from The Stepford Wives, and the gargoyle faces of the guests come from Rosemary's Baby. You only steal from the best. Daniel Kaluuya plays the target very well, Alison Williams has a difficult part--having to play innocent and trusting then sinister later on--and does well and Catherine Keener with her coffee cup and spoon antics will live in my memory for a long while.

Daniel Kaluuya does an exceptional acting job to an absurd story. I only watched it to see his acting. Nothing else is worthwhile.
