British author Pinborough (Murder) effectively shifts perspectives between two complex characters in this twisty psychological thriller set in North London. Louise Barnsley is chagrined to learn that the hunky man who kissed her in a bar turns out to be her new, married boss, therapist David Martin. Louise and David agree that the flirtation would be just a onetime thing, but their interactions become more complicated when David's gorgeous wife, Adele, bumps into Louise and cultivates her friendship. Sections set in different time frames provide an ominous backdrop for the triangle, with references to dirt under fingernails and things having been done "that could not be undone." Despite her deepening bond with Adele, Louise is unable to successfully repress her attraction to David, even as he shows sides of his personality that disturb her. Pinborough will keep even veteran genre readers guessing about which members of the trio, if any, are providing trustworthy accounts of their pasts and presents.

This effective and deeply plotted psychological thriller nearly pulls it off before making a few twists too many at the very end, but getting there is so juicy and so much fun, you might not mind. Take a chance on this one.

Really enjoyed this book. Kept me hooked until the end, ending was totally unexpected. Great for the lovers of physiological Thrillers.

A fun, engaging, interesting read that kept my curiosity. I thought it was a great book and that the character development was believable (that's usually what I struggle to enjoy in some books). Worth the read!

Certainly a good, engaging read. You really feel for the different characters at different points and you're never quite sure who to trust. I only wish that the last five pages had been left off. The ending would have been excellent without it. That last chapter is a silly afterthought that does nothing for the plot. Bringing that one character back took it all just one step too far and the gender-stealing aspect really leaves a sour taste in the mouth.

The premise of this book is absurd and the good character development and suspense can't make up for it.

Another disappointing book in the same genre as The Couple Next Door and Gone Girl - why suddenly all these similar plots? This one was OK for the first half but disintegrated into complete nonsense by the end. A waste of time to read.

HOLY CRAP at the ending!! Book is phenomenally written and keeps you guessing all the way to the twisted, twisted ending. Gave me the chills!! Highly recommend reading it, will not be disappointed!

Romantic thriller about a woman who develops a relationship with a married man and his wife and the trouble that ensues. The story keeps you engrossed all the way until the end, until it dissolves into somewhat of a supernatural exercise, takes over, becomes it's theme, and ends in an outlandish way. Engrossing and a page turner, but ending leaves you flat.

What started out o be an interesting mystery toward the end turned into a cheap bait and switch with an idiotic ending. Unless you like improbable fantasies, this is a total waste of time. I wish I could gain back the time I wasted on this crap.

I really enjoyed the first 95% of this book as it built up intrigue and suspense. However, the much vaunted ending to this book was a waste of paper and ink. It was simply not credible and detracted from the experience of the rest of the book. Probably still worth reading, but a major let-down at the end.

No, just no. Don't do it, it's slow, it has really unattractive characters and an ending that's beyond ludicrous. I want the time I spent on this back!
