Co-created by Pamela Adlon and Louis C.K., this series follows Sam Fox (Adlon), a single mom and working actor -- with lots of love but no real filter -- who also acts as a dad, referee, and sometimes even the police, raising her three daughters in Los Angeles. She also watches out for her mother, (Celia Imrie), a British expat, who lives across the street. Sam's just trying to earn a living, navigate her daughters' lives, have fun with a friend or two and also -- just maybe -- squeeze in some private time once in a while.

FX is making some wonderful comedies. After long standing series like It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Louie, and Archer, we are now treated with newcomers like Atlanta, Baskets, and Better Things.

Better Things is a subtle, real-life comedy where you might find yourself laughing at moments that feel all to real. They are successful at selling the frustration that can happen in a family and how all of it can be so absurd to the point of laughter. I recommend all the shows I mentioned and I look forward to more FX comedies. Enjoy!
