If you're looking for a funny thriller to lend you escapism, try The Disasters by M. K. England, a high stakes space heist with diverse characters who have been expelled from elite Ellis Station Academy. It's fast paced, witty, and based on the found family trope.

This is a fun sci-fi adventure full of non-stop action. Both the protagonist's narration and the dialogue display plenty of humor. Diversity is the norm. Interesting and proficient world-building. An action filled novel that accounts for food, prayers, gun safety, gasoline, and medical supplies! I’m shaking. You can so clearly see how much thought went into this book. It’s funny. It’s sweet. It’s violent, but somehow not our crew. It reminds us what can keep seemingly able bodied people from work and school. It’s lovely. Perhaps my favorite YA of 2018.
