In the beginning and eleven years ago, two immortal beings decide that it might not be time to start an Apocalypse. I'm so glad this is coming to DVD so more people have a chance to experience the droll delight of this story. The casting is perfect, the adaptation spot-on (no surprise since co-author Neil Gaiman was the showrunner), and the quirky tone delightful. This is one I'll be buying for my own home col... This is a great example where casting essentially ensures success. David Tennant and Michael Sheen as Crowley and Aziraphale, respectively, are absolutely on fire here. They sizzle. You've heard it often said that the book was better than the movie. This is no exception. In fact, of the 4 adaptations I've seen of Pratchett's works, none of them faired well at all. Mr. Pratchett needs to be read, not seen. This is the LONGEST converted piece of T.P.'s and so it is the most grueling to get through to the end when the outcome is known from the first reference of the end times and Armageddon. And what a fine cast too ... Michael Sheen, David Tennant, Michael McKean, Derek Jacobi, Miranda Richardson and Brian Cox but they can't muster a funny line or breathe life into their roles to save ... well their lives. The plot is full of holes, the opportunity for humor is totally wasted and what little T.P. had to offer for character development and comedic situations is spread out over two dozen characters. We are not amused.

.
It was a chore to get through this whole thing. Each episode is less funny and more childish than the last.

This is a great example where casting essentially ensures success. David Tennant and Michael Sheen as Crowley and Aziraphale, respectively, are absolutely on fire here. They sizzle. It's been a while since I've read the book, but I feel like the show gets deeper into the star-crossed friendship of the angel and demon, and it's just tremendous stuff. A film adaptation of Good Omens has been in development hell forever, and we're lucky it wound up on TV instead where it had a chance to really spread its wings. Apologies for all of the heaven/hell puns, I couldn't hell-p myself.
