This CD was one of the first I actually spent my own money on as a kid. Still holds up.

I agree that 39 Smooth and Kerplunk are 2 of the best albums Green Day has made they are my favorite Green Day albums also but Dookie is a very good album not one bad song that is why it is such a classic and a hit.I remember growing up in the 1990's and a lot of songs from this album on the radio back when rock music was great. besides Longview Basket Case and When I Come Around which were the hits there is Pulling Teeth She Having A Blast and Burnout that are also great songs with catchy melodies and great harmonies from Billy Joe and Mike.after this album and Insomniac the band did not come up with great music for a long time.American Idiot had some great songs but it was not a classic album like the early stuff. the last albums Uno IDos and Tre go back to the great sound of this album hope more new music sounds like this in the future from the band!

Absolute pop-punk gold. These three young men capture the essence of apathetic, chaotic, and laughable teenage angst. You'd be lying if you said you can't relate to this album, with songs like Basket Case about questioning one's sanity, Longview, about being bored out of your mind, When I Come Around, about an on-again/off-again relationship, and She, a song about the difficulties of being yourself. This album starts out with Burnout, and the opening line is "I declare I don't care no more". Dookie is relatable, catchy, and more than worth listening to.

This is one of the best albums green day has made by far. most of the songs have a meaning that we all can relate to, drugs alcohol, sex, and depression. while some of the songs are short, they are still great.

Dookie is such an overrated album. 1039/Smooth and Kerplunk! (their first two albums) are a bazmillion times better!

"Welcome To Paradise"

Dear mother,
Can you hear me whining?
It's been three whole weeks
Since that I have left your home
This sudden fear has left me trembling
'Cause now it seems that I am out here on my own
And I'm feeling so alone

Pay attention to the cracked streets and the broken homes
Some call it slums
Some call it nice
I want to take you through a wasteland I like to call my home
Welcome to paradise
