LANDO: "Good grief, your ethical virtue will remain unscathed tonight, at least. Everybody seems to have beaten us to the spaceport. So much for the wonders of public transportation. What do you suppose we've done now?"
VUFFI RAA: " 'We,' Master?"
LANDO: "Very funny, my loyal and trusty droid. Your support underwhelms me."

MOHS: "Have I recited rightly, Lord?"
LANDO: "Sure. Perfectly. And-just as another test, mind you-let's have an abbreviated version in the vernacular. Might win a few converts among the heathen. Think you're up to it?"
MOHS: "Lord?"

ALIEN: "I understand that you have expressed an interest in the scientific theories regarding the phenomenon of probability."

LANDO: "Purely scientific, friend. I'm a spacer by profession, an astrogator, so my interest's only natural. I'm especially intrigued by permutations and combinations of the number seventy-eight, taken two at a time. Fives are wild."

ALIEN: "Ah ... Sabacc."

Imagine a world where the main character gets away with everything by gambling, smoking, and being charming. Well that's Lando in this book.
The Lando Calrissian adventures are like an almost forgotten part of the E.U as they are hardly ever mentioned in any of the other books (the exceptions being Millennium Falcon by James Luceno and parts of the last two books of the Han Solo Trilogy). I've read a lot of varied opinions over this trilogy and decided to find out if they were really that bad, just okay, or good. Personally, I kind of liked these books. They're definitely not the best Star Wars books ever, but I think that L. Neil Smith did a good job of making an interesting story in three books that were all so small.
Smith writes very formally, and I sometimes came across words that made me say, "What does this even mean?" (Ha Ha).
Sometimes the stories would get confusing when he switched between points of view or when a flashback happened, and the endings were at times unclear. Luckily, Smith summarized what had just happened in the next book and the confusion usually got cleared up. (But you can't forget about those continuity errors!)
Something that I found very bizarre was the absence of the Empire in this trilogy. Though this should be taking place during its height, the Emperor, the Imperial Navy, and Stormtroopers weren't in these books and only mentioned a few times throughout each novel.
Though The Mindharp of Sharu was the funniest and described by the author of How Star Wars Conquered the Universe as Psychedelic (which is a really good word to describe the book while Lando searches for the Mindharp), I think that my favorite is the Flamewind of Osean. Not only does it have the best story (despite a slow beginning), the characters are likable, and it's the middle of the trilogy which I think tends to be best in a three part story.
