A Clockwork Orange is a masterpiece of sex, ultra-violence, and the lovely Beethoven. Stanley Kubrick provides a black-comedy with Malcolm McDowell playing the " lovable " psychopath Alex Delarge.

Perfectly filmed, ethically and philosophically bankrupt.

This is a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Nothing like it has ever been made, and nothing like it ever will be made. I have seen this several times and could continue to watch it over and over again. Get prepared for something different - REALLY DIFFERENT.

A satire on a society in the not-too-distant future, not very different from our own. McDowell's performance as a young thug is outstanding. The movie was too strong for some way back in 1971, and, apparently, is still today. But, the version you see here is R-rated, reclassified from the original X.

This movie is one of my all time favourites and has stuck in my head constantly since the first time I saw it about 1971. Yes, it may be violent, but many scenes are just classic, and some even funny, especially the prison guard (who actually played Lord Montgomery in the movie Patton). The music is fantastic. And I am often haunted by, "Singing,...just singing,... in the rain,... Dooppy doopy doopy doop," while Alex is smashing everything up. Cory

I never read the book, but I really like this film. It's one of those movies people really like or really hate, not much fence sitting. Disturbing story and imagery. I like the plot and story, but it's the cinematography that astounds me. One of the few films I've seen where the majority of the scenes would make great paintings. Kubrick could frame a scene better than any director. His framing not only captures the moment of a particular scene, but provides a visual context of the whole story. All of his movies that I have seen are visually stunning, but for me Clockwork Orange is the most vivid and powerful.

With "A Clockwork Orange" (from 1971) director, Stanley Kubrick clearly offered the viewer a motion picture of very questionable entertainment value. Here we are handed a truly demented tale that gleefully showcased white-trash and juvenile delinquency at its most vicious, vile, and corruptible.

If "A Clockwork Orange" was meant to be some sort of a twisted & perverse moral lesson, then it clearly missed its mark. If it was meant to be viewed as a scathing social commentary, then its message definitely told me that (as a society of human beings) we are, indeed, utterly and hopelessly doomed.

I certainly found it very difficult to look upon this film's hypocritical stance, as well as its hatefulness, and its outright brutality, as being really worthwhile entertainment.

Considered one of the absolute, most controversial films of the 1970s - You can be sure that even today, 48 years later, "A Clockwork Orange" still remains something of a bona-fide shocker.

I, for one, can't imagine anyone (in their right mind, of course) ever wanting to watch "A Clockwork Orange" more than once. But, hey, with that said - Isn't one man's pain (sometimes) another man's pleasure?

Hello, darlings! - I think that this over-rated movie is a perfectly wretched look at the future where despicable behavior is applauded and encouraged. I did not like the self-satisfied actor, Malcolm McDowell at all.

Another great movie from Kubrick this time taking place in a dystopian Britain where a gang of young adults spend their afternoon drinking milk, raping and beating up people. The movie itself delves into the story on why the leader of this gang does this. He is eventually forced into therapy which may turn him nonviolent. The movie can be inappropriate at times but the story and plot are good with memorable scenes that have been used in pop culture time and again. I rate this movie 4/5 for these qualities and recommend this movie to Kubrick fans or people who enjoy dystopian films. @selfhelpguru of the Hamilton Public Library Teen Review Board

Setting: London, sometime in the future.

Alex and his fellow teenage droogs (gang) engage in some rather violent ways to pass the time of day; and for no apparent reason other than their ill-sorted ideas of amusement. Until Alex is caught, and then the State steps in to set things right. But is the State's solution worse than the crime? O my brothers, that is the question.

Now hold on to your seat, the going may be a little rough, as Alex, Pete, Georgie, and Dim, Dim being really dim, gather at the Karova Milk Bar, their favorite Milk-Plus Mesto, for the purpose of making up their rassodocks what to do for the evening.

What's it going to be then, eh?
