This is the first Georgette Heyer I ever read and it made me a devoted fan for life. I recently re-read this one and found it as delightful as ever. Heyer is known for her frothy regency romances, but this one is set slightly earlier in 1793. This story is a romance, but so much more! For starters, there is not just one couple to root for, there are two! Add to this some smugglers, an unsolved murder, a missing heirloom, some break-ins, two bumbling Bow Street Runners, an attempted murder, some moonlit escapades and a smooth, clever villain and clearly this story is more than just a simple romance. The story is full of Heyer's well-researched detail and language and is overflowing with her trademark humour. This one is extremely funny, and the scene where intrepid heroine Sarah Thane gamely poses as an avid expert on historical homes is one of the highlights. This book is funny, charming and completely delectable.

I think this may be my favourite Georgette Heyer book. It's hilarious. There are two very silly main characters and two more sensible ones, who are all thrown into an adventure. The dialogue is extremely witty and I enjoyed reading it very much. I recommend it to anyone who likes romance or regency.

A very exciting romantic story; reminiscent of Jane Austen.

The Georgette Heyer Era in Great Britain had to be an incredible time for readers of the Romantic Regency Period of which the "Talisman Ring" personifies. Her writing was witty, erudite, lingquistically correct and funnier that a comic reader!!! She is and will continue to be my very FAVORITE Author of all time!!!!

This is my very favorite Georgette Heyer novel. The book is humorous throughout, and never strays from authentic regency dialogue, which is a hallmark of Ms Heyer's writing. I especially loved the very resourceful heroines.
