On Monday, January 18, from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., we will be replacing core Library IT hardware. This maintenance will disable access to our website, web catalog, most eLibrary, and Research eResources, (including some Axis360 service). Maintenance is scheduled to last six hours. Note: to ensure full access to Axis 360 during our maintenance downtime, log out and log back into the Axis 360 app Monday morning, January 18, shortly before 9:30 a.m. Thank you for your patience as we maintain and upgrade our systems.
Don't know what's more remarkable -- this album or the fact the B-52s are not in the Hall of Fame. Very hard to describe the group's music . . . perhaps the Talking Heads on meth gets close. This album is unique today; imagine what is felt like in the Disco era, when the B-52s exploded into our consciousness.
Essential listening -- the debut album by The B-52's is one of the best American New Wave albums of the 1970s ... an instant party, from first cut (the eerie "Planet Claire") to last (a deconstruction of Petula Clark's "Downtown"). The band would never again sound this inspired -- and "Rock Lobster" deserves its classic status. "Dance This Mess Around" indeed!

One of their best, perhaps their best.
