"A Man Called America Jones" is a homesteader in the lush Truchas Valley who's been burned out by an Indian attack and threatened with the same by a local rancher. In the title story, Daniel Red Eagle is a young Apache who is orphaned twice, once when whites killed his Apache family, and again when Apaches killed the white couple who raised him.
