This book is an excellent start to the series and the art and storyline are quality material. I’ve always respected Akira Toriyama’s work and this is probably his magnum opus. The story is about a kid name Goku who runs into this girl named Bulma. Goku is an extremely strong kid who was trained in the martial arts by his grandfather. He has a thing called a dragon ball which Bulma is hunting for; he thinks it’s a memory of grandfather. So she basically convinces him to travel with her to get all 7 balls to see the dragon, and Bulma wants the dragon to grant her one wish. They run into trouble and problems along the way, but those parts are what make this manga so much fun to read. Also the humour is hilarious, there are some jokes in here not appropriate for kids under 13, but for the most part it’s all in good fun. I love this book and thoroughly enjoyed it, this manga is legendary and every anime/manga lover should read or view the anime at least once. There is a reason this was called the greatest manga action series of all time, because it stood the test of time and a lot of manga writers today still look to it for inspiration. I being a huge fan of Toriyama, can’t thank him enough for making this gem of a book. Overall I give it a 5/5 for its originality and art style, along with the witty comedy and mild adult humour.

The start of one of the most popular manga in the world. It is the juvenile take & adventure on Son Gokou. Try this if you get tired of the talk, fight, talk, fight, talk, fight tone of DBZ
