The main female actors character is not well developed. The story feels like it ends abruptly without adequate end. And the conclusion is depressing.
May have literary/film value I missed, but as an uneducated viewer I found it was time wasted.

Beautifully staged and shot, and well-acted. Unpleasant story with many thoughtless people being inconsiderate or nasty to each other.

"Brief Encounter" meets "Heart of Darkness", if you can believe it, in this nertheless superbly produced period piece, elegant England after the First World War, with some Amazonian jungle thrown in, however improbably, direction is a shambles despite great help from sublime actors, nor is the story one of Waugh's best
