This gets an 'above average' because it is just that, above average. It is clever and technically adept. Some of the most persistantly well-done 'stop-motion' animation I have seen. But in the end, I just didn't find it all that funny. Oh, yes, there was a chuckle or two. Excess can sometimes be funny in and of itself. But maybe it is that satire tends to cloy in the end. Blocks the humor receptors. Or maybe it's just that finally if you don't have an investment in the world that is being lampooned, you just lack the urge to invest in the satire. To give a damn. Irreverence requires that you have been reverent. Have been a member of the church, so to speak. And to be simple about it, I didn't grow up with a plethora of action figures, nor spend inordinate amounts of time watching cartoons about action figures.
