I really enjoyed this book. It was a bit awkward in places, but the character was well rounded, and the story was very absorbing. I've read some of her contemporary books and didn't like them, so this is a welcome surprise. I will try some of her other historical novels. 4 stars.

I enjoyed the book very much and plan to read more of her books. I have read books about this era by other authors and would recommend this author's intrepretation of the time period if you are squeemish as she does not go into detail about some of the cruel punishments of the day. If you are a fan of Wm Shakespeare plays and sonnets, you will enjoy this book.
