Summary
Add a SummaryWhen Coraline moves to an old house, she feels bored and neglected by her parents. She finds a hidden door with a bricked up passage. During the night, she crosses the passage and finds a parallel world where everybody has buttons instead of eyes, with caring parents and all her dreams coming true. When the Other Mother invites Coraline to stay in her world forever, the girl refuses and finds that the alternate reality where she is trapped is only a trick to lure her.

Add a CommentThis is one of my all-time favourite "creepy" movies. The stop-animation is so well done that I wouldn't have even guessed that it was how the movie was made. The whole movie works together from the soundtrack to the voice actors to really bring the story to life. The jingles from the movie are catchy and memorable. This is a definite must-see fall movie.
Coraline is an amazing stop-motion film that portrays the life of a young girl going on an adventure, while also risking her safety and overcoming hardships. This story focuses on appreciating what you have, while also being courageous and owning up to your personal thoughts and feelings. In addition, throughout the movie, Coraline, as well as the audience, is able to see how something so ‘perfect’ can be distorted and flawed. Although I watch this movie on a weekly basis, it is definitely a must-watch during the ‘spooky season’! The personas of each character are in-depth and creepy, supporting the overall detailed animation of the film! I would definitely recommend this movie to anyone who enjoys a good dark-fantasy film! 5/5

Well directed animation with larger than life characters. Spooky and creepy.
I really liked this movie and I LOVED the music! Dakota Fanning was great as Coraline and the storyline was very enjoyable. However it's not for young children. Plenty of scary moments make this a great film to watch at Halloween. However, lots of funny moments as well. The voice cast was great and I loved the animation. If you can, definitely watch the 3-D version!
This is a must have for Halloween. Classic in the lines of Nightmare Before Christmas.
Clearing up some comment confusion: "Coraline" was directed by Henry Selick, who also directed "The Nightmare Before Christmas."
While Tim Burton came up with the characters and original story for Nightmare, he had nothing to do with "Coraline", which is an adaptation of a Neil Gaiman book.
Selick also directed the 1996 adaptation of Roald Dahl's "James and the Giant Peach."
My favorite Tim Burton movie! Just the right amount of creepy.
Weird. Messed-up. Creepy.
very creepy dont recomend
I give this movie a 5 out of five. I like this movie because of the Creepy vibe to it, my favorite movie is this movie and as many think that it is very scary to believe it is a children's movie I think it is a great children's movie. it teaches younger kids that don't take anything for granted. I love the art style of this movie, I have been aways in love with claymation type of movies, they give off this old-style to them that you don't see anymore. Aside from that, I love the storyline that goes with the animation the story of a girl thinking that her life is horrible until she goes into this other world and doesn't expect that its dark on in the inside. I love the character Coraline because she is a girl that just moved from a city and has to now leave everything behind. The soundtrack to this movie is amazing because it is simple and it gives off a sense of joy and everything is ok. As you get more into this movie the soundtrack turns more into dark and mysterious and nothing is a good movie without a good soundtrack. The "other" mother gives off this very happy and delightful person to be around but then at the end, you see that she isn't as nice on the inside as she is on the outside. As many people dislike this movie for it being scary I adore every minute of this movie and highly suggest it to people who like creepy claymation movies

Coraline moves into a new house with her family and her adventurous side finds herself in trouble once discovering a small locked door. She finds herself in another world where she might be stuck forever. You see the adventure she must go through to get her life back. I absolutely love this movie ever since it came out, I continue to watch it over again. This movie is very well done with the picture. The movie is a bit creepy with the button eyes and the music. It’s also very interesting and different than other movies which makes it good. 5/5 stars @EffyStonem of the Hamilton Public Library Teen Review Board.
The first time I ever saw Coraline, I already knew that it was a cinematic masterpiece of its time. From its incredible stop motion scenes, to its story line, to its suspense and imagination, the movie is guaranteed to excite and frighten people of all ages - quite frankly. I would not usually describe myself as someone who loves horror or scary movies, however I found this movie to be very enjoyable for the simple fact that it was a clay-mation (cartoon style stop motion animation made from clay). Just imagining how long it took to create every scene both amazes and astonishes me, so I am truly able to appreciate Coraline for everything it is. The faint at heart may not enjoy the horror, however they will enjoy the art of it.
