Fleeing to Ireland, heartbroken twenty-six year old Kate hopes to start over. A wonderfully warm story of new beginnings and special friendships.

I loved this book and found it easy to relate to, especially as my background is similar to Kate’s. My mother raised me as a single parent, our ancestors are from Ireland and my mother, too, is a seamstress who has cancer. Consequently, this book helped to bring both memories and emotions to the surface, which was very cathartic. One of the things that I particularly enjoyed about this book was that, as in real life, there was no nice tidy little ending; rather, the ending was simple and open, with complex feelings woven in. Very good! I highly recommend it.

a nice gentle read. Leaving one life to start another. In today's day and age it is difficult to find 'community'. Kate is escaping a failed relationship only to land in a small Irish village (delivered by cart and horse driven by the local tinker) to be welcomed into the community. A variety of women share their experiences in the local lace making group, and welcome Kate into their fold.

Bit too much Irish angst for me, but it is light reading and quite enjoyable.
