Read this when it was the pick for the Science Friday Book Club. Some retro good fun to be had as it was written in the early 1980s.

The author follows Data General Corporation's development of a 32-bit minicomputer to compete with Digital Equipment Corporation (DEC). An easy read and a nice bit of nostalgia for anyone who has worked with computers since the 80's or longer. There's an interesting debate over the merits of physical hardware vs software solutions which is pertinent to today's hype over virtualization. Note the minor reference that I'm sure contributed to the plot of Good Will Hunting.
