Castle, the Complete First Season
DVD - 2009
A famous crime and horror novelist, Rick Castle, helps Kate Beckette of the NYPD homicide department solve crimes. Castle's non-traditional approach to solving the crimes conflicts with Beckett's conservative approach, leading to much tension and a hint of romance.

“There are two kinds of people who sit around all day thinking about killing people...mystery writers and serial killers. I'm the kind that pays better.”

Castle: How often are people killed in neighborhoods like this?
Beckett: Same as anywhere else, Castle, just the once.

Add a CommentI got this to see Nathan Fillion who was so good in Serendipity. But this is awful. I’m not a fan of shows like this anyway. No script, cheesy acting, boring.
This just a fun series with a little action, a little romance, and lots of tongue in cheek humor. Good for a binge watch on a rainy day.
Ever wonder what would it be like if a mystery writer teams-up with a metropolitan police department? Nathan Fillion, formerly known as Capt. Malcolm Reynolds in "Firefly", is Richard Castle - master of the macabre and famous mystery writer of the "Derek Storm" novels. When Det. Kate Beckett links Castle's books to a murder, Castle''s life is forever changed as sets out to not only assist the 12th Precinct of the NYPD but to work on his next book based on the beautiful and alluring detective ("Nikki Heat"). With family and friends, Casket's partnership and relationship starts here on Season One.
[This is also like a modern, 21st century version of "Murder She Wrote"]
Good. Light hearted. Fun to watch the characters
Great stuff and already into season three.
awesome movie! Probably the best mysteries out there. . .aside from Mysteries of Laura! Loved it. can't wait to watch season 2. :D
Great series! Each season gets better and better.
This tries to have the magic of Moonlighting (with Bruce Willis), but it misses the mark by a mile. It would have been much better if the pilot had been made movie length.
Maybe this show gets better but the first season is disappointing. There dialogue is rarely witty and the characters are two dimensional. The main character is Castle, fine, but do all the women characters have to totally revolve around him? We've got the dutiful and studious daughter, the wacky but doting mother, and the tough but virginal sidekick. Even the other male characters are totally flat, I guess so they don't take the spotlight away from the *fabulous* Castle. Bones is a better show for witty dialogue and multi-layered characters.
have waited almost a year for this and I still havn't gotten it. :(
