The author is getting too of much of a free pass from professional reviewers (Stephen King appears to be under a contractual obligation to give a generic favorable quote for every one of her books!). Reeks of a much better PR effort than writing ability. There is very little mystery, thrilling moments or horror (as opposed to revulsion to the content description) in the book. The characters muddle through like actors in a play with idiotic dialogue forced on them even in what should be tense moments. The twists appear very lame. There isn't even consistency in characters. Cher, whose daily vocation is to shoplift and mug people pretending to solicit, has pangs of conscience in taking found money belonging to a dead man that has been tormenting her. Not worth reading for anybody except those few women who relish stories of favorable/empowering endings for women characters despite vulnerabilities, however bad the story might be.
