This novel turned out to be much funnier than I had expected. One of Forster's themes is poking fun at English tourists abroad, and in one of my favorite moments in the book, Lucy, the protagonist, finds herself alone in an Italian church without her guidebook. She simply doesn't know what's important to look at or what she's supposed to like without the book's instructions. Since this is an audiobook, I should also mention that I am very touchy about audiobook narrators, and I didn't find this one to be bad at all. She was unobtrusive, which is what I'm generally looking for.
