"San Francisco" (from 1936) was an MGM production that cost that studio $1.3 million to complete. Believe me - That was really big bucks in those days.
I found that I enjoyed a good part of this vintage picture. It was especially the pre-CGI earthquake effects that held my interest the most.
Yes. They were pretty hokey-looking - But, hey! What could one possibly expect from an 82-year-old movie?
And - If you like to hear lots of operatic singing, actress/singer, Jeanette MacDonald won't let you down in "San Francisco".
Unfortunately, I found that this big-budget spectacle picture ended on a really corny note that left me totally groaning with exasperation and disappointment.
