Coraline is a movie about a girl who moves into a new house with her family. It begins with demonstrating that Coraline is unhappy with her life since her parents are not giving her much attention. Coraline’s life changes when she discovers a small door in her living room wall which leads to an alternate universe where her life seems better than it really is. Later on, she receives warnings from those around her about the door. However, she dismisses these warnings and her life changes for either the better or worse. Coraline is a good movie to watch during the Halloween season. I would rate this movie a 4/5. @hibiscusflower of the Hamilton Public Library's Teen Review Board This movie was a… how do you I say this; it was a scary but at the same time very relatable. The movie is about a young girl who moves into a new house with her parents that don’t really show love for her. Then she gets transported to another world where its her dream life… her parents love her and it’s the exact way she’s dreamed of. I personally don’t know how she didn’t get suspicious of anything at first even though she was warned. But I get where we she was coming from; she was getting the cherishment and love there that she wasn’t getting in the real world. She later finds out that the dream world she loved was not all that she thought it was, but after facing trials and tribulations she made friends with people she would never expect to have. I would definitely recommend to ages 11 and up because some scenes had me scared in my seat, but apart from that this movie is a Halloween must watch. 5/5 stars @Bunny365 of the Hamilton Public Library's Teen Review Board Coraline is an amazing stop-motion film that portrays the life of a young girl going on an adventure, while also risking her safety and overcoming hardships. This story focuses on appreciating what you have, while also being courageous and owning up to your personal thoughts and feelings. In addition, throughout the movie, Coraline, as well as the audience, is able to see how something so ‘perfect’ can be distorted and flawed. Although I watch this movie on a weekly basis, it is definitely a must-watch during the ‘spooky season’! The personas of each character are in-depth and creepy, supporting the overall detailed animation of the film! I would definitely recommend this movie to anyone who enjoys a good dark-fantasy film! 5/5 @roselilly04 of the Teen Review Board at the Hamilton Public Library
