my favorite beatles album. originally slated to be called, EVEREST, it went out without a name, and the public named it by referring to it as THE WHITE ALBUM. the strongest cuts are by George, and this was somewhat of a coming out for him. Give it a listen, and see if you don't agree. He got his pal Clapton to play a guitar part on one of these ( WHILE MY GUITAR GENTLY WEEPS) The vocalisations by George on the outro of this song are really stunning). Not sure if John was part of that cut, at all (a prefiguring of the eventual dissolution of the group ). John and ' God 'eventually did collaborate, in the first incarnation of PLASTIC ONO BAND ( LIVE PEACE IN TORONTO, which also consisted of Klaus Voorman, on bass guitar, and local drummer, Alan White, (later to be Yes's drummer) ). Ringo left the group part way through; he felt unappreciated, so Paul took over the drumming duties (BACK IN THE USSR; DEAR PRUDENCE, etc.). They welcomed Ringo back with fulsome praise, especially from George. By the way, they referred to him as Ritchie, not as Ringo. So the immediately previous sentence scans better as meaning with' Ritchie' instead of with 'Ringo.' SAVOY TRUFFLE and LONG LONG LONG are also standout tracks. WHY DON'T WE DO IT IN THE ROAD. CRY BABY CRY. HEY BUNGALOW BILL ( THE CONTINUING STORY OF). MARTHA MY DEAR. OBLA-DI, OBLA DA. HELTER SKELTER. I'M SO TIRED. REVOLUTION #1. REVOLUTION # 9. Excellent album. A desert island disc. No numerical rating. " But if you go carrying pictures of Chairman Mao/ You ain't gonna make it with anyone, anyhow."
