This is a gorgeous retelling of the classic novel from Thomas Hardy. I love a good historical romance that challenges gender roles and status. The cinematography and score are just beautiful and Carey Mulligan is a triumph in her role.

This dark fantasy tale sucked me into its world. Its intense, wonderfully descriptive, and spooky. The polyamorous love triangle threw me off a bit, but I was rooting for them all by the end of the book.

These four homeless children and their adventures gave me all the feels. This novel touches on some really tough topics with such grace. I felt like I was a part of their stitched-together family and could see the setting like it was right in front of me.These four homeless children and their adventures gave me all the feels. I was impressed with how the author expertly portrayed racism, poverty, and immigration from a 10 year-old's point of view. These difficult subjects are sometimes hard to talk about, but Yang did so in a way that connects with young readers. This is one of the few times that I've been able to say that I liked the sequel better than the original. Scythe was wonderful, but Thunderhead was something special. It was fast-paced, action-packed, and the characters tugged on my heartstrings.

This was a tough read, but I loved every minute of it. What made Dry so interesting (and at times, scary) was how real it was. This story of a catastrophic drought that turns Southern California into a warzone could potentially happen in real life.
