Matilda is one of my absolute favorites. The story about the young and precocious bookworm comes alive with Kate Winslet's excellent narration - she does voices and accents and it was an absolute pleasure to listen to. Recommended!

This book was really good! I loved it!
The writing style reminded me of Kate Morton. I didn't pay attention to the dates at the beginning of the chapters, and sometimes I would get confused about if I was reading from Jess' or Lucy's point of view, but that didn't stop me from falling in love with this story.
If you love family dramas and secrets about women standing up for and supporting one another, then this is the book for you. I'm so glad I stumbled across this one. It's powerful.This book was really good! I loved it!

A beautiful hour-long documentary that was a companion piece to the temporary "History of Magic" exhibit at the British Museum. Includes readings from the HP books by some of the actors. I found it fascinating how Rowling based her wizarding world on real-life history and myths (Nicolas Flamel, mandrakes, etc.). If I'd known how superlong and science-y this book was, I might not have picked it up. It's also very gory -- don't read this while eating!! I liked the dark academia setting and the "secret society" parts, but I do wish some things would have been explained/elaborated. This is DEFINITELY a slow burn, but once the two of them finally got together, the end result was definitely worth it. I adored this book. There are maybe a few things I would change, like its length and how I think that some characters didn't seem to serve much of a purpose, but I was addicted. Once I found my groove and got adjusted to multiple timelines and multiple lead characters, I really found myself being swept away by the storylines. There were definitely a couple of things that took me by surprise - including the ending - but maybe this book ended the best way that it could. Schwab's writing is atmospheric and immersive, and this book is definitely outstanding. Five stars because I couldn't put it down.I adored this book.
