A sometimes funny, but dark look at life beyond humans. Buxton tells the story of humanity's fall from the point of view of a snarky, domesticated crow named, S.T. You'll laugh and cry as he struggles with the death of his favorite human, Big Jim. S.T. and his travel companion, a slobbery, lazy, and sometimes heroic dog named Dennis must learn the rules of the new world. All the while helping rescue all the domestic animals trapped when humans fought a losing war of evolution with nature. I truly enjoyed this book and Buxton describes nature is such vivid, and often humorous, terms.A sometimes funny, but dark look at life beyond humans. A fascinating take on werewolf/shape-changer myths set against the backdrop of India over the span of a couple hundred years. At times graphic and visceral, this story weaves a tale that is vibrant in its clarity. Written from the eyes of both human and shifter, this book explores what it is to be human. But also, it is a story of acceptance of self and identity whether human or monster.A fascinating take on werewolf/shape-changer myths set against the backdrop of India over the span of a couple hundred years. Thought provoking and beautiful, Lem weaves a story of redemption and acceptance in this classic sci-fi story about researchers standing on the precipice of contact with a vast and alien planet. Lem blurs the lines between faith, science, and philosophy. In the end, the book doesn't resolve the questions presented at the beginning, but rather adds to them. This gives the reader a sense of the vast, and incomprehensible, ocean planet that is Solaris.Thought provoking and beautiful, Lem weaves a story of redemption and acceptance in this classic sci-fi story about researchers standing on the precipice of contact with a vast and alien planet. Although the book was well written, I did not feel compelled to keep reading. However, if you like viral apocalypse stories, this one does have an intriguing premise and it does paint a vivid picture of the world's response to a virus. In some ways, it reminded me of a game of Plague Inc. Still, I didn't find the characters to be engaging.Although the book was well written, I did not feel compelled to keep reading. This book refused to let me put it down. I would often find myself so immersed that hours had passed in the blink of an eye. The characters and the world are so vivid it was like I was there. It's a story of intrigue, spies, revenge, and the lengths a person will go to make sure they're safe in a world where death and magic run rampant. This book refused to let me put it down. Stunning, complex, dark, and twisty. Pretty much my favorite things about this book. Schwab does not disappoint with this tale of superhuman rivals Victor and Eli. Who is the hero and who the monster? Or maybe they are both? The morality of both characters is questionable at best as they both do everything in their power to kill each other. I read this book when I was a teenager and I have loved Pratchett's stories since. It is funny, silly, and lighthearted. Also, luggage.

This is an amazing, twisted, beautiful re-imagining of the Alice in Wonderland Mythos. Definite must read. The story and characters are engaging and the twists and turns will keep you on your toes.
